Clifford Harper illustrates John Gallas’s ballad poem about the life and times of the
Italian anarchist Santo Caserio, a baker who assassinated the President of France,
Sadi Carnot, in 1894. Caserio, a little man who who tried to change things and got
his head chopped off. The drawings are an homage to the work of Frans Masereel,
the anarchist illustrator, and perfectly accompany the ballad verse.
